Mastering the Art and Science of Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

A Crucial Blend of Expertise, Passion, and Facial Aesthetics

Non-surgical rhinoplasty, a trend that gained popularity in the late ’90s, continues to soar. The allure lies in its ability to enhance confidence without the commitment of surgical procedures. Unlike traditional rhinoplasty, non-surgical options provide temporary, reversible results through dermal fillers. This procedure is appealing to those seeking instant aesthetic transformations without the pain and expense associated with surgery.

b clinic’s Cosmetic Doctor, Dr Frank Mallawaarachchi answers everything you need to know about the rise of this popular non-surgical procedure.

Sculpting Confidence: Who Can Benefit from Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?

The number one advantage of a non-surgical rhinoplasty is its ability to change the look of the nose quickly and affordably. Those with a bump or hump on the bridge of the nose, poor nasal definition, or asymmetry find this procedure particularly appealing. Additionally, individuals with a droopy nasal tip may benefit from injectable treatments to enhance their side profile and boost confidence.

Dr Frank shared how a “less is more” approach can have maximum impact on facial structure and harmony.

“This beautiful young client of mine came to me with concerns about the shape of her nose.”

“Subtle amounts of filler in the right places can result in a beautiful and refreshed look, as we can see above,” Dr Frank shared.

During the consultation, Dr Frank identified a few minor irregularities that could be corrected to improve her side and front profile.

“I carefully and strategically placed 0.4ml of filler to lift the tip and to straighten the nose perfectly and then placed 0.3ml of filler in the medial malar (lower cheek area) to give that subtle contoured appearance,” said Dr Frank.

More great examples of how this procedure can enhance the face can be seen in the patient’s before and after pictures below:

“Our client was very concerned with the appearance of his nose. He wanted to disguise his ‘hump’,” said Dr Frank.

To correct this, Dr Frank artistically used 1ml of dermal filler to smooth out this client’s nasal bridge irregularities.

To create balance, he has combined non-surgical rhinoplasty with a subtle chin enhancement treatment to create a more refined, harmonious, and beautifully balanced profile for his client below.

“Like many of our clients with minor nose irregularities, this client’s primary desire was to straighten and correct the nasal bridge”.

“However, clients are not always aware that correcting their nose irregularities can emphasise that they have a small chin, creating an imbalance in their side profile.”

When seeking out any procedure, it is best to take advantage of the free consultation as individual results, goals, and treatments vary.

Although great for aesthetic enhancements, non-surgical rhinoplasty can sometimes have its drawbacks.

While it can create the illusion of a smaller, narrower nose, it cannot alter the structural integrity or alignment of the nasal bones or address underlying breathing issues, so it is important to discuss your goals with your medical practitioner as it does not provide the same benefits as surgery.

The Importance of Experience: Understanding Anatomy for Safe and Beautiful Results

Achieving the perfect balance and harmony in a non-surgical nose procedure demands more than just skill—it requires an in-depth comprehension of facial anatomy. The anatomy of the nose and the face as a whole is essential to understand and to determine the exact level of treatment and the risks associated with the procedure.

Dr Frank recommends choosing a highly qualified medical provider with extensive anatomy knowledge.

“At b clinic, our medical injectable team consistently stay updated with the latest advancements in injectable techniques,” shared Dr Frank.

Similar to filler injections in other facial areas, the procedure for nose enhancements adheres to the same careful injection process.

“Prior to administering the treatment, your practitioner should conduct a thorough medical examination to evaluate for any necessary steps that will ensure the injectable procedure is executed with the utmost safety and security.”

“This comprehensive approach not only minimises risks but also delivers beautiful and natural results,” said Dr Frank.

Mastering Beauty: The Harmonious Fusion of Art and Science

Once all assessments have been made, the practitioner can skillfully marry art and science to create harmony and balance in the patient’s facial structure.

By selecting the ideal filler – often favouring a structural medium-size molecule filler – the practitioner injects this into the nose’s bridge; this precise process is complemented by gentle massage, moulding the filler for exact positioning and optimal aesthetic refinement. Whether related to concerns about the tip of the nose or excessive nasal flare, muscle relaxants and fillers can work together beautifully to create the perfect balanced result.

However, to achieve facial harmony, the practitioner’s skills should extend beyond just considering the nose and must take into account the whole face. In Dr Frank’s experience, more often than not, a patient’s lower face (most commonly the chin) must be treated to create a balanced profile.

The angles- Naso-frontal angle, Dorsal angle, Nasolabial angle, Nasofacial angle and Nasomental angle are very important for the practitioner to understand, assess and correct, keeping the natural curves and angles when the procedure is performed.

As non-surgical rhinoplasty becomes more and more popular and accessible, the importance of skilled practitioners who prioritise safety and individualised care is paramount.

Dr Frank Mallawaarachchi’s emphasis on the delicate fusion of expertise, passion, and facial aesthetics underscores the importance of a well-informed and skilled practitioner in achieving harmonious, natural results.

FAQ’s

Does the procedure hurt?

Non-surgical rhinoplasty is designed to be a relatively comfortable procedure for patients.

Local anaesthetics are routinely utilised, contributing to a numb sensation in the nose immediately upon the injection of the filler. Feedback from most patients indicates that the procedure is generally considered quite comfortable.

What should I expect after non-surgical nose filler treatment?

You may experience swelling, redness, and bruising immediately after your non-surgical rhinoplasty. These side effects are normal and will go away within a few hours or days. There is no downtime, so patients can return to normal activities and work the same day as your non-surgical rhinoplasty.

Patients need to avoid touching the area that was treated following your liquid rhinoplasty, avoid massaging, sleeping face down or wearing tight-fitting glasses. It is advised to be gentle with the area treated for at least one-two weeks after.

How often will I need to top up my nose filler?

Patients can expect results from nose filler treatment to last from six months to one year (or sometimes longer). But, since temporary filler dissolves slowly on its own, even if the results exceed the one-year mark, you will need to repeat the treatment to maintain the results. Generally, you should get a top-up every six months.

How much does nose filler cost?

There can be serious risks if the injector is not exceptionally well-trained, so please don’t pick a provider based on the cost of treatment, whether it be a lower or a higher cost.

Our dermal filler products now have a fixed price, regardless of the treatment area. We believe that paying more for complicated areas does not reduce the risks. Even though we’ve eliminated these extra costs, you can still expect the same high level of care and service from our team of doctors and nurses.

Non-surgical Rhinoplasty – 1ml dermal filler $550*.

*Please note, the dermal filler pricing applies across all b clinic locations, excluding Queen St, Brisbane City clinic.
